Palace Churches

Palace Churches

The royal palaces have churches and chapels located in unique historical settings and in locations of great natural beauty. These churches are open for visitors in connection with the palaces' opening hours or the parish's programme of events.

The royal churches and chapels present concerts featuring organists and choirs. Programmes are advertised in the calendar.

The Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace of Stockholm

Since the 17th century, the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace of Stockholm has had its own parish and has conducted weddings, christenings and funerals for members of the Royal Court Parish. However, everyone is welcome to attend the parish's services and music events. During the palace's summer season, the chapel is also open for self-guided visits.

The Riddarholmen Church

The Riddarholm Church is the final resting place of the Swedish kings, and is Stockholm's only preserved mediaeval abbey. The Riddarholm Church is not a parish church, so services such as christenings and weddings are not held here. The church is open during the summer season, with an annual programme of concerts.

Weddings and christenings in a royal setting

The royal palaces at Drottningholm, Rosersberg, Strömsholm and Ulriksdal have churches and chapels that can be booked for christenings and weddings. Venues can be booked close to the palaces for receptions and parties, and palace tours can be booked for guests.
